Suwanee Steamboat in Greenfield Village, 1933

Summary

As originally built in Greenfield Village in 1929, the steamboat Suwanee had eight cabins on its middle or boiler deck. But Henry Ford wasn't happy with the vessel's ungainly appearance. He had Suwanee rebuilt as a day boat, without cabin accommodations, in 1935. Suwanee underwent two further rebuilds -- keeping to its 1935 look -- in 1969 and 1989.
