Duties and responsibilities:

  • This project will support and reassessment of Agriculture collections, and the first assessment of the significance of the Environment collection at The Henry Ford. To accomplish this, the intern will work with curatorial staff throughout the 12 weeks to review of the existing collecting plans and significance statements and to identify topics not currently addressed in these plans.

  • It will take into account the need for collections to support THF’s Edible Education initiatives and Green/Sustainability efforts.
  • The internship will result in the draft of an updated collections development plant including at least these five themes: urban agriculture, brewing and distilling, plant-focused biotechnology, bioproducts, and regenerative agriculture (subject to refinement based on the rest of the work completed).
  • The intern will hold regular hours, meet regularly with colleagues, and engage with all aspects of curatorial work undertaken during the 12 weeks, including regularly held meetings.
  • In addition, at the completion of the internship, with assistance and input from appropriate staff, the student will present a synopsis of the project to an audience of The Henry Ford staff.
