Henry Ford II Driving the First Ford Car off the Assembly Line after World War II, July 3, 1945

Summary

On July 3, 1945, Henry Ford II drove the first postwar Ford car off the assembly line. Like all American automakers, Ford did not build civilian automobiles during America's involvement in World War II. Instead, the company turned its employees and resources to the production of war materiel. Ford's first postwar cars were simply restyled versions of its 1942 models.
