1949 Ford Ad, "Woman's Place is in the Ford!"

Summary

Many women joined the work force during the Second World War. After the war women returned, some eagerly and some reluctantly, to homemaking as a fulltime career. Ford fashioned this 1949 ad toward women and their reliance on the automobile which was used "so many times every single day" in their new jobs caring for their families.

Text reads, in part: I know because I'm at the wheel so many times every single day! And every mile I drive I appreciate that new Ford "feel." For instance... I chauffeur my husband in the morning rush hour and love the "feel" of Ford's "Finger-Tip" Steering... Delivery boy for shopping and I couldn't be happier with that big storage space... Nursemaid duties are also mine, and I like the feel of solid safety from Ford's "Lifeguard" Body and those wonderful brakes!... "Glamour girl," my husband calls me, when I drive up! And that's the way I feel when I drive our new Ford--it's beautiful, inside and out!... The 1949 Ford has been Awarded the Fashion Academy Gold Medal as the "Fashion Car of the Year"/
