Long Range Target Rifle, circa 1877

Summary

This target rifle was developed for the International Matches held at Creedmoor, in Long Island, New York. These competitions pitted national teams from Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, United States and other countries on long-range shots from 800 to 1000 yards. The sight could be re-positioned for the many unusual shooting positions that marksmen developed for the event.
