Ford Motor Company Mack Avenue Assembly Plant, Detroit, Michigan, 1903

Summary

After its founding in June 1903, Ford Motor Company set up shop in a factory on Detroit's Mack Avenue. There Ford employees assembled Model A cars from components made elsewhere. The budding company quickly outgrew its first home -- even after a second story was added to the building. Ford moved into a larger factory on Piquette Avenue in late 1904.
