Jambiya with Scabbard, 1870-1930

Summary

A jambiya is a curved dagger worn close to the body and used for close-at-hand defense. This Moroccan example, from the late 19th or early 20th century, was probably a tourist trade good created for Western consumption. The chasing was executed in a cursory fashion and the inscription, which contains what looks to be Arabic calligraphy, has no meaning.
