Inscriptions

Handwritten in ink: Mrs. Julia D. Booth, / Chapel Hill, Texas The passing of the Ford Ah! sad was my heart when / they told me the flivver, / Must die, and thus pass away; / For they say that it jolts and / thus shakes the liver. / And the Ford has seen its / best day. But why should I worry? I / still have a flivver, / Altho' she's eight years to / the good; / She never has once disturbed / my old liver! / But brought all the joy that / she could. The virtues are many. I can / say of the flivver, / The vices? -- of course, few, but / --- Ah! well, / Altho the old dear, ne'er dis- / turbed my poor liver, / A few times she did give me / hell. But what is all that compared / to the pleasure, / That I in my heart for ever / shall hoard; / For I shall consider I have / a great treasure, / So long as I own a Ford. So long may she live! don't / kill the dear flivver. / But pass her on down to / the next generation; / We can all take dope and / right the old liver, / But the Ford is the choice of / the nation. Ink stamps on first page: HENRY FORD / DEARBORN, ICH. / RECEIVED JUN 22, 1927 / Secretary's Office
