1902 American Locomotive Company Steam Locomotive as D. T. & I. Railroad No. 45, November 1926

Summary

Number 45 was one of six 4-4-2 Atlantic-type steam locomotives purchased by the Detroit, Toledo & Ironton Railroad from the Michigan Central Railroad in 1926. Henry Ford, who owned DT&I at the time, had the locomotives rebuilt at Ford Motor Company's Rouge factory. During the rebuild, many of the engines' parts were plated with highly polished nickel.
