Summary

Ackley Covered Bridge, built in 1832, originally spanned Wheeling Creek in southwestern Pennsylvania. Henry Ford acquired the bridge in 1937 when plans to replace it spurred a local preservation effort. Its timbers were shipped to Greenfield Village by rail, and the bridge was constructed over a specially designed pond. Formal dedication ceremonies took place in July 1938.
