Fall Harvest Weekend

Savor the crisp fall atmosphere with historical foodways demonstrations, games, crafts and specialty displays, including beer brewing, yarn dyeing and operations at our historic Cider Mill. Stop into our food venues to get a seasonal taste, whether it be modern fare at Stand 44, a historical meal at Eagle Tavern, or a sweet treat at Frozen Custard.

Demonstrations, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

• "To Stew a Rump of Beef" recipe at Daggett Farmhouse from The Compleat Housewife, written by Eliza Smith in 1727.
• "Mock Mince Pie" recipe at Firestone Farm from The Household of the Detroit Free Press, written by May Perrin Goff in 1881.
• "Stuffed Squash" recipe at Ford Home from Farmer's and Housekeeper's Cyclopedia, written by Stephen Lewandowski, Ed. in 1888.
• "Mulligatawny Soup" recipe at Edison Homestead from Marion Harland's Complete Cookbook, written by Marion Harland in 1903.

Historical Games and Crafting, 1-5 p.m.

• Seasonal craft demonstrations at Firestone Farm
• Seasonal yard games at Ford Home
• Bean bag toss and seasonal craft demonstrations at Edison Homestead

Special Demonstrations, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

• Beer brewing at Daggett Farmhouse
• Colonial wool dyeing at McGuffey Schoolyard
• Cider operations at the Cider Mill, reopened for this weekend only

• Eagle Tavern fall menu will feature sweet potatoes, apples and pork
• A Taste of History menu will feature fried sweet potatoes and circuit hash
• Stand 44 menu will feature seasonal favorites
• Various fall beers available at most locations
• Cider Slushies available at Frozen Custard

Fall Harvest Weekend is included with village admission and free for members.
