Dan Gurney was no stranger to Le Mans when he co-piloted the #1 Ford Mark IV to victory with A.J. Foyt in 1967. Gurney had competed in the French endurance race every year since 1958. One week after his 1967 Le Mans win, Gurney won the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix in an Eagle race car he built.
