Blind and Low Vision

Tactile tours are available for Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation with at least two, preferably three, weeks' advance notice. These tours are an hour and a half and include opportunities to touch various artifacts and models of artifacts throughout the museum. If you are interested in requesting a tactile tour, please email accessibility@thehenryford.org.

Virtual verbal description programs with detailed descriptions of images are held throughout the year. These programs are accessible via web link and call-in phone number. Our next virtual verbal description program ("Journey through Yellowstone: America's First National Park") is scheduled for Thursday, January 23, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. Please email accessibility@thehenryford.org for more information and to register.

Descriptive audio is available for select films at Giant Screen Experience. Contact accessibility@thehenryford.org for a list of films that have descriptive audio.

AIRA Explorer App

AIRA is an app-based verbal description service that connects guests who are blind or have low vision to remote agents who will guide them through all our venues. Guests can download the app for free on a smartphone and use it to speak directly to an AIRA agent anywhere within the venue. The app can be accessed on the museum's free wi-fi network or while using personal cell coverage. Learn more.
